Do you want your words to be fueled by Kingdom power as in the book of Acts? I want another Pentecost. Do you? Are you willing to wait and pray and see God work?
Shavuot/Pentecost is the culmination of Passover and Firstfruits. Pentecost liberated people physically, emotionally, and spiritually freed. This freedom enabled them to experience the outpouring of His Spirit and understand and respond to the bountiful harvest of His Word.
From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the lord...I am the Lord your God.
- Leviticus 23:15-17, 22 NIV
We have always acknowledged that nothing is random with God. Therefore, it is appropriate that Jesus, who died on Passover, would rise from the dead as “the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Cor. 15:20 NIV). After He rose, He instructed the disciples, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised . . . For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:4–5 NIV). His resurrection on Firstfruits started the countdown to Pentecost, which was His Father’s gift—the biggest biblical celebration on record. Pentecost is when God rocked the house, and there were three thousand people saved in one day (Acts 2:41)!
I assure you, God is listening just as attentively now as a century ago, as two millennia ago. Remember, He is constant and unchanging—the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). His eyes are searching, and His ears are attuned to the prayers of His people. Let us pray to experience another Shavuot/Pentecost.
